In mid-March; an announcement was made by the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi concerning the long-haul activity of flights into the Nice Cote d’Azur International Airport. In what is expected to be even better news for the local travel and tourism community in the Cote d’Azur, as soon as this summer, flights between Shanghai and Nice will commence by the company China Eastern.
It all started last summer when Air France-KLM took a further major step in the reinforcement of its strategic partnerships with, firstly, the creation of a single global joint-venture between Air France-KLM, Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic and, secondly, the strengthening of its partnership with China Eastern Airlines. This now means flights from China to the Cote d’Azur, the second most popular area of France.
This news now opens more doors for several other Asian companies to also include the city of Nice on its flight routes.
Also beneficial for these connecting flights, Emirates in Dubai announced the launch of a daily A380 service to Nice, gateway to the French Riviera and Provence which started last July 2017. It total, there will be 117 destinations worldwide to Nice, a record for the International Airport which has already seen a dramatic increase yearly.
And it may not be over, as ten more destinations globally are in talks and may soon be on the Nice Cote d’Azur flight route and other current airlines are said to be reinforcing their programs with even more flights for travelers.
Overall, this is excellent news for those wanting to experience the French Riviera.
